artist bio
My name is Emily Christine Holt and I am a Digital Composite Artist (non-AI) with my main subject matter being self-portraits. I’ve always been a creative individual but fell upon this medium during the pandemic, where I found myself realizing my creative thoughts deserved to have a space and not be lost to the forgotten abyss.

With that realization, I decided to continue to build on some intermediate photography skills and challenged myself to bring my artistic ideas to life. Working with this medium has been a welcoming process for me, as the digital tools are always evolving and allowing my creativity to grow. Creating art has been more than finding individual growth, but a healing process and a personal time capsule of self-reflection.
I live in my hometown of Buffalo, Minnesota with my chaotic and fun family that includes my husband, three kids and yellow lab puppy. This part of my life allows my creativity to be wild, free and spontaneous. Outside of my home life, I work full-time as a Training Coordinator and I am a current member of the Buffalo Art Guild, where I am given the opportunity to collaborate and learn from some of the best.

artist statement
Our commonality as humans is more simple and parallel than we realize. We all have our own story that’s built off of growth and healing.
I often apply this mindset into my pieces with the belief that self-reflection allows us to empower our perspectives and find peace with our story. My work is generated by my own lens of creativity with daydream-like visions that I am compelled to bring to a tangible visual. I am inspired by different concepts like revisiting memories, being guided by ancestors, and digging through my own thoughts to find my voice. Each piece is a self-portrait and a reflection of my story, whether it be from my past, present, or potential future. The story or purpose of each idea is often unknown until I am in the process or the process is complete. However, I often find themes of healing and growth that are displayed through humor and vulnerability. Executing my interpretations has led me to a surrealistic style that is balanced with a feminine flair.
That said, I’m not always here to force deep concepts to viewers or to technically execute masterpieces. My personal creative goal is simply to create and to bring my initial visions to life. For any potential audience, my sincere hope is that my art connects viewers to my story, to their own experiences and to one another.
